Interns on the Scene

A team of six high school students are lending their writing and photography talents to Student U this summer as interns. They’ll keep us up to date with weekly posts, photos, interviews, and reflections. The team will cover different events happening at Student U, working with teachers and students to capture the imagination and creation of the summer.

Meet the interns:

My name is Alexis and I’m a 9th grade intern. I am a blog writer and proud to be one. I love to write, especially stories and journals. This job could help me in my thinking skills and writing ability. I picked this specific job because it fits me and I’m a good writer. I don’t know where I would be without Student U.

My name is Jeriah. I’m a 9th grade intern here at Student U in Digital Documenting. I’m here at Student U because I want to get more information about computer graphics/animation because I would like to major in in that field when I go to college. Student U helped me find that field I would like to major in by taking me to Duke for a tour and taking us to D.I.V.E. (a virtual box that takes you to different environments). When Student U took me to Duke and A & T for a tour it makes me want to go to either college.

My name is Tyler, I am a rising ninth grader. I came to Student U in 2008, because my mom thought it would be a good opportunity. At first I did not want to come, but now I’m glad that I did come. I have had a great experience in these last four years while attending this program.

My name is Daniel and I’ve been apart of Student U for five summers now. I’m calm, collected and my interests include playing basketball and music. I like the interactive and the great welcoming aura that is emitted, on an every day basis, here on campus. Because of this, I have decided to document and display the greatness of these students and teachers on the Student U blog. The Student U community is an amazing one and this blog will be a wonderful canvas for Student U’s beauty.

Hello, my name is Traveon and I am a rising 9th grade intern.  I wanted to become an intern because my mom said it would be a good fit for me. Another reason is because I have a little brother that’s a rising 6th grader. I wanted to show him how fun and exciting Student U really is, also how cool the teachers are. My little brother has told me a lot about his teachers and how fun it is to become a student here. So that’s why I have decided to stay so I can be an intern again next year.

Hi, my name is Gamarkus and I am a ninth grade intern.  I like to help out students and show them a good example and be a bigger person. Another thing is I like to write and read because I know that it will help me when I’m older, and when I try to get a job it will provide with it, and that’s why I think Student U is a great place to start.
